greenscare biodegradable hydraulic fluidsGreensCare™ biodegradable hydraulic fluids from Jacobsen are readily biodegradable, nonhazardous, and are the only fluids approved for use in Jacobsen equipment. Formulated from biodegradable nontoxic base stocks, they offer exceptional oxidation and thermal properties. These fluids also have enhanced wear protection, cleanliness and longer life than conventional petroleum hydraulic oils. GreensCare can directly replace petroleum oil-based hydraulic fluids, yet has reduced environmental impact in the event of a leak or spill. GreensCare fluids are specifically formulated for use in Jacobsen equipment. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is the real benefit of GreensCare biodegradable hydraulic fluids? We realize that no matter how careful we are, hydraulic fluid leaks are a fact of life. GreensCare is designed to break down in the environment and protect your turf from long-term damage. How does it protect turf? GreensCare will break down into safe natural components within a few days, depending on conditions. This biodegradation prevents the oil from smothering the turf and allows it to regrow faster after spills. Isn’t it heat that kills the grass? Anything hot will wilt grass, even water. Major turf damage occurs when petroleum covers the blade and prevents air transfer. Petroleum sterilizes the soil and prevents plants from regrowing, further extending the damage. Biodegradable fluids break down quickly upon entering the turf, protecting it and allowing rapid regrowth. What should I do if I have a leak or spill? Since heat is the primary enemy of turf, it is essential to flush it with cool water as soon as possible. Continue flushing to disperse heat and oil. Petroleum spills should not be flushed. We understand Jacobsen GreensCare fluids are biodegradable. Does this mean we can dispose of new or used oil by pouring it down the drain? No. Even though this oil is readily biodegradable, it may not be discarded indiscriminately into the environment. This oil should be disposed of in the manner currently used with conventional oils. Will there be any adverse effects if standard hydraulic oil is mixed with Jacobsen GreensCare? In the laboratory, mixtures of
GreensCare did not exhibit any loss
of performance characteristics. This
was done under dry conditions. Water,
in combination with other hydraulic
fluid contamination, can result in loss
of performance characteristics. Mixing
other mineral oils with GreensCare may
reduce biodegradability and reduce the
effective turf protection. |
